April Message from the East
April 8, 2015
Greetings from the East:
We had our regular stated meeting on Tuesday April 7, 2015 and it was very well attended. Everyone enjoyed a fantastic Hot Dog meal with coleslaw tater tots and vanilla ice cream for dessert. A big thank you to WBro Danny who prepared the meal. We had plenty to go around and I believe everyone enjoyed this HOT DOG kickoff to summer.
Another great meeting, Thank you to all the brothers that attended, and a particular thanks to the officers, everyone did a great job and we continue to improve. I am trying to keep the regular meetings light but be respectful to the craft. REMINDER…Get in touch with a brother you know who has not been in the lodge lately and get them to come back. Sometimes we just need to let our lost brothers feel wanted.
After our meal the craft was busy setting the work:
We will have a EA Degree on April 7 2015 and a FC Degree on April 21, 2015 ( Luis Reichart and Shawn Truett).
Masonic education will be held on Monday April 13, 2015 at 6:3
Congratulations to Brother Luis Reichart who was initiated as an entered apprentice Mason on March 10, 2015. I know Brother Luis is excited about his next step in masonry.
Grand Lodge meets in Charleston on April 23rd -25th Brother Roland “Boogie” Mitchum and myself will attend. It is open to all Master Masons and all are invited to come.
On April 25, 2015 the Columbia Fire Department along with the University of South Carolina, Jeffery Williams Foundation, Firehouse Subs, Richland County Emergency Service Division, and the SC State Fire Marshall Office to conduct a Carbon Monoxide and smoke alarm blitz in the Olympia community. They will be using our lodge as a command center since it is located in the heart of the blitz area. They are looking for volunteers to help with the distribution of equipment. The following brothers have stepped up to help with this community project. Ed Strickland PM, Paul Martin PM, Glyn Smith PM, Doyle Jaco PM, Jan Barkan, Ivan Langley, James Lewis, David Able. Please if you have the time and want to help protect the Olympia community show up, the CFD will arrive at 7:30am and will be on site until around 3:00pm.
The results are in concerning our kitchen project. WB Ed Simpson reported the kitchen hood is going to cost about 10k to replace. The brother s present voted to continue with this initiative. We have scheduled a building committee meeting with the GC at the lodge, on April 28, 2015 at 6:30pm. We will formalize a plan and present this document to the craft at our next meeting. This process is slow because we have decided not to start this project until after our annual BBQ and because it is necessary to get all the numbers before we can proceed and because of our internal bureaucracy.
I encourage any brother that has the time to volunteer to meet with the various players of this project to step up. Contact me if you can devote time to meeting with vendors.
The various parts of this project include the following:
Stove and oven
Cabinets (demolition and replace)
Sheet rock of dining hall and materials in kitchen.
Central heat and air vents
General contractors cost to manage project
Plans are continuing to have a spaghetti dinner as a fund raiser for Brother Rich Frye who is experiencing some life challenges. The dinner is set for a Friday evening May 1st , 2015. A donation of $5.00 is being requested and all lodge members will be sent tickets and asked to participate. Additional tickets are available…Please try and sell them to all your friends…I promise it will be the best spaghetti they will eat.
The date has been set for our annual BBQ…It is June 27th, 2015. Tickets will be mailed to all members in the coming months, so be planning to buy and /or sell tickets.
WEB SITE: (WWW.PACIFIC325.ORG)
Please visit our website, often…If there is information to be distributed to the craft, this is where you will find the most up to date information. Thanks again to Brother David for his due diligence in maintaining this site. All brothers are welcome to provide feedback as to the ease of use and if you need something additional added let us know, David is continuing to add pictures as we grow.
I would like to acknowledge a very special brother to me and the lodge and one whom I count on heavily. You don’t need to ask if he is coming to a lodge meeting or coming to a work night…you just know he will be here. If you haven’t guessed who I m talking about….Its WB Paul Martin, PM . I can’t express the gratitude we have for WB Paul., with all he does for the lodge.
I know and understand we have other brothers who help and are here when we need them and I am not in any way diminishing your contributions to our lodge. But when the pressure is on in the kitchen or around the lodge I know, if I don’t know the answer I simply say, in a loud voice…”PAUL,” and he is there…Thanks again for all you do for us.
Thank you to MWB Tommie Brant who stood up and gave us a timely lecture on how we should act as masons during our meetings. We all need to be uniform in how we act as mason even in the smallest of detail. I will make some small changes at our next meeting that hopefully will address some of MWB Tommie’s concerns.
Thank you to MWB Ron Mitchum, who is helping with the procurement of our kitchen Stove and Oven. Also, a big thank you for your efforts in securing 12 gallons of spaghetti sauce and noodles for our Brother Rich Frye’s fund raiser.
Thank you to all our brothers at Pacific Lodge 325, I am proud to be your WM this year and proud to sit in the lodge with you. May the blessing of heaven rest upon us an all regular mason, may brotherly love prevail and every moral and social virtue cement us…So Mote it be!
Sick and Distressed
Now, let us pray for our Sick and Distressed and keep these brothers and family members in you daily thoughts…We offer this prayer:
Think, o God, of our friends and brothers who is ill, whom we now commend to Your compassionate regard. Comfort him upon his sickbed, and ease his suffering. We beg for deliverance, and submit that no healing is too hard for the Lord, if it be His will. We therefore pray that You bless our friend’s and brothers with Your loving care, renew his strength, and heal what ails him in Your loving name. Thank You Lord for your many blessings and place your healing hand on those we name here and others in our hearts.
