May Message from the East
May 5, 2015
We had our regular stated meeting on Tuesday May 5, 2015 and it was very well attended. Everyone enjoyed a fantastic Baked Chicken dinner with Green Beans, Wild Rice with Cake and vanilla ice cream for dessert. A big thank you to WBro Danny who prepared the meal. We had plenty to go around and I believe everyone enjoyed this meal.
Another great meeting, Thank you to all the brothers that attended, and a particular thanks to the officers, everyone did a great job and we continue to improve. I am trying to keep the regular meetings light but be respectful to the craft. REMINDER…Get in touch with a brother you know who has not been in the lodge lately and get them to come back. Sometimes we just need to let our lost brothers feel wanted.
We received a special visitor this evening…MWB William B Rogers our new Grand Master of SC, along with his illustrious party. We had a grand time meeting and talking with MWB Rogers and it was a pleasure to have him in our Lodge.
After our meal the craft was busy setting the work:
We will have a MM Degree on May 26, 2015 ( Luis Reichart ).
Congratulations to Brother Luis Reichart who was Passed to the degree of a Fellow Craft Mason on April, 20, 2015. I know Brother Luis is excited about his next step in masonry

On April 25, 2015 the Columbia Fire Department along with the University of South Carolina, Jeffery Williams Foundation, Firehouse Subs, Richland County Emergency Service Division, and the SC State Fire Marshall Office to conduct a Carbon Monoxide and smoke alarm blitz in the Olympia community. They will be using our lodge as a command center since it is located in the heart of the blitz area. This event was a success and upwrds of 200 devices were installed in the Olympia Community. The following brothers have stepped up to help with this community project. Ed Strickland PM, Paul Martin PM, Glyn Smith PM, Doyle Jaco PM, Jan Barkan, Ivan Langley, James Lewis, David Able. A BIG Thank you for all the brothers that helped with this project.
The Building committee made the recommendation to keep the existing stove and oven and have it refurbished/serviced. This will save the lodge a considerable amount of funds, that can be applied to future projects as we approach our centennial anniversary . Reminder…nothing will begin until after the completion of our annual BBQ scheduled in June.
We had a very successful fund raiser for our brother Rich Frye. Thank you to all the brothers who helped with the preparation, serving and cleanup. A special thank you to MWB Ron Mitchem and PWM Ronnie who were primarily responsible for the cooking we could not have done this without your help. The result is the lodge raised over $1,600.00.
The date has been set for our annual BBQ…It is June 27th, 2015. Tickets will be mailed to all members in the coming weeks, so be planning to buy and /or sell tickets.

Now, let us pray for our Sick and Distressed and keep these brothers and family members in you daily thoughts…We offer this prayer:
Think, o God, of our friends and brothers who is ill, whom we now commend to Your compassionate regard. Comfort him upon his sickbed, and ease his suffering. We beg for deliverance, and submit that no healing is too hard for the Lord, if it be His will. We therefore pray that You bless our friend’s and brothers with Your loving care, renew his strength, and heal what ails him in Your loving name. Thank You Lord for your many blessings and place your healing hand on those we name here and others in our hearts.
